Dear Lois,
You know that the ACLJ has been on the San Diego Mt. Soledad war
memorial issue from Day One ... but
now the fight goes beyond the cross.
The ACLU is attacking a symbol of
remembrance - a sacred memorial to our
heroes of war - just because it happens
to be shaped in the form of a cross.
The ACLU winning this case
could mean that no war memorials
across our country would be safe
from their grip - not even Arlington
Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
Your support is vital in this
effort. We need to hear from you TODAY!
Give your secure, online donation RIGHT
NOW and help the ACLJ as we stand
against the ACLU to preserve the cross
on San Diego's Mt. Soledad and stop the
ACLU from removing every trace of
Christianity from our nation's public
squares.
Recently, the President of the United
States signed legislation (which we
helped put forward) designed to protect
the Mt. Soledad cross by moving it under
federal authority.
In their move to counter, the
ACLU filed yet another lawsuit - asking
for this federal law to be declared
unconstitutional.
The lawyer for the avowed atheist who
originated this longstanding legal
dispute has called the legislation
"election-year politics" and a "fad";
and he wrongly claims the bill is, like
the cross itself, unconstitutional.
But we are refuting these arguments
and will pursue the Mt. Soledad case all
the way back to the Supreme Court of the
United States if necessary - and
the relentless pursuit of the ACLU will
almost certainly make it necessary.
DO NOT let the ACLU win - give an
immediate generous gift of support to
the ACLJ as we prepare and file an
amicus brief to protect the cross!
Have we arrived at a place in our
country where the cross - a universal
symbol of remembrance - could be
illegal? I certainly hope not!
We must fight. If we do not,
we could lose more than one cross on one
hill in San Diego. No memorial - NO
CROSS - will be spared the force of the
ACLU!
Your voice is strong - use
it!
Please give today. Your faithful
support will help us pursue this vitally
important matter and move ahead on all
of our legal and legislative work across
the country.
I look forward to hearing from you
soon.
Thank you!
